Description

A full set of 19 postcard designs developed from original Cyanotypes made in Faversham, Kent.

The beautiful Prussian Blue is the hallmark of this wonderfully evocative Victorian Photographic Process, still effective after almost 200 years.

Cyanotype was discovered in Hawkhurst, Kent in April 1842 by Sir John Hershel, an English polymath, mathematician, astronomer, chemist, inventor, and experimental photographer. His near neighbour in Sevenoaks, Kent was Anna Atkins, who used the process almost immediately to self publish the first Photographic Book – Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions – in October, 1843.
