Description

You will give the gift of a relaxed few hours of learning or improving beginning bookbinding techniques. We will look the importance of paper grain and how to fold, sew, and cover handbound books and create useful and beautiful books using basic tools. The Workshops include all materials, including paper, board, various decorative papers, bookcloth, linen thread and adhesive to make your own uniquely designed books. Your gift will be beautifully presented with a small handbound pamphlet book and a personal printed message in a presentation box with a red velvet ribbon.

Classes are taught through practical demonstrations and supported hands on work. Image is to demonstrate the style of book only. Papers and materials will vary.

Voucher holders will be offered first refusal of all workshops scheduled in 2022. Bookings should be made within 6 months of purchase and workshops completed in 2022. The extension of Voucher’s validity may be considered if special circumstances delay booking or attendance at a workshop in 2022, but cannot be guaranteed. Vouchers are not refundable.

We’ll meet at Monkshill Refectory, a wonderful converted barn with views out to sea across the Swale estuary, close to Whitstable and Canterbury with peacocks roaming the farm buildings and kitchen garden.

Coffee, tea and biscuits are included in a Half Day Workshops.

A Wasted Kitchen lunch is included in an All Day Workshop.

Monkshill Refectory is a well ventilated venue with capacity for 20 socially distanced people, with up to 60 when restrictions are no longer required. Bindfulness workshops are limited to 8 places.
