Alexander Centre Faversham ME13 8NZ

The drum leaf binding was developed by Tim Ely. It is an adhesive book structure made up of single folded sheets (called folios) attached back to back. It utilizes minimal amounts of adhesive, avoiding issues of expansion and contraction. It lays flat, opens beautifully, and allows for endless design variation.

You will learn about bookbinding techniques and basic tools.  We will look at the importance of paper grain and how to fold, sew, and cover your book. Using basic tools and techniques, you will learn a repeatable process that can be practised at your kitchen table. All materials will be provided for your day of making, including paper, card, various decorative papers and adhesive to make your own uniquely designed books. Tools are provided for use on the day.
