The Sewn Boards binding structure is a Bindfulness favourite. The modern Sewn Boards Binding, a sewn and glued hard or soft cover book, is credited to Gary Frost. You will make a hardcover version of this book. The Sewn Boards structure design cleverly has an additional section of card sewn onto the text block that is incorporated into the cover of the book. It lays flat, opens beautifully, and allows for endless design variation. The finished book, with its modern lines and flush covers, feels wonderful in the hand.

You will learn (or revisit) beginning bookbinding techniques.  We will look at the importance of paper grain and how to fold, sew, and cover your book. All materials will be provided for your day of making, including paper, card, various decorative papers, linen thread and adhesive to make your own uniquely designed books. Tools are provided for use on the day.
